The Blair String Quartet perform its final concert at the Blair School of Music with Christian Teal in the first violin chair. After forty-one years in the Blair String Quartet, Teal is retiring at the end of this season. This valedictory concert will feature the monumental Quartet in B flat Major, Op. 130 by Ludwig van Beethoven with the original last movement, the Grosse Fuge (Great Fugue). Performing with the Blair Quartet for this concert is pianist Melvin Chen, a former precollege violin student of Teal’s who is now deputy dean of the Yale School of Music. Chen joins the quartet for Ernest Bloch’s Quintet No. 1 for Piano and Strings.
